Nothing! There are several good reasons for companies to give away free versions of their security software. Most are only free for home use and companies have to pay.
I use freeware and have had no serious issues for over a year!
Plus layered protection delevered by several different companies is safer than a suite. Software runs on an 'engine'; once a hacker has cracked the Norton engine he can be through all your defenses if you use a suite. Its much less likely that he can get in undetected through several different engines.
Id get a firewall, an anti virus, an anti spyware and an anti adware, plus Ccleaner to keep the pc running smoothly.
The Windows firewall doesn't stop malware on your pc from dialling out. Zone Alarm firewall is free for personal use and stops unwanted incoming and outgoing traffic. You choose which programs are allowed to access the internet. It's fairly easy to use and updated regularly.

Instal both these web browsers, turn off javascript on one and use that browser for vising unknown websites. They don't support Active X so thats one less way for problems to get on your pc.
Winpatrol is a handy utility that tracks cookies on your pc and stops unwanted changes to your startup folder.

Spywareblaster works with Internet Explorer and Firefox. It won't uninstall spyware that is already on your pc, but it will prevent hijacks and other malicious changes to your browser.

I use a coporate version of McAfee, the licensing agreement allows me to install it on my home computers, otherwise I would opt for one of the freebies. 75 pence per week per computer is just too much.
See the link below for a review.
The trouble with McAfee and Norton is the are such heavyweight packages, and there is no need for it. The software offers a such a variety that the average user is confused with how to set the thing up.
Sometime ago McAfee released a patch called Patch 11, it fixed some problems with their software but created others, they then annouced Patch 12 would be released to fix other problems. But Patch 12 was never released. Patch 13 was released recently and is supposed to cure all previous problems.
For anyone reading this who is running McAfee Enterprise-8.0i and does not know about the patches, they have to be downloaded from the Network Associates web site (Grant number is required ) The patches have to be applied manually and are not applied via automatic updates.
Anyone running McAfee Enterprise-7.0 or 7.1 should update, as those two packages do not detect some viruses.

Nothing I use the freebies and so do most of the people I know without any problems including the works system (5 networked computers) and the related ones that access the works computer from home (at least another 3) our problems come from installed software like the disk that comes with Nokia phones and freezes the system

Freebies are awesome... they're as reliable and sometimes better than McAfee and Norton. I would recommend AVG
they have a nack of finding viruses out before competing antiviruses do. Plus u can save money for ur hardware.

I had Norton and once it expired it made my PC unusable popping up a reminder message every 15 seconds. I uninstalled it and am now using AVG free. So far I find it a much better product. It has done a much better job than Norton.

I trust you wholehardedly. we elect to reform ourselves. boost understanding of deen. Make it a huge deal even as babies are small so as that once they're older that's an excellent deal. practise, practise, practise. stay Islam so the babies have strong examples. practice Islam so as that the babies comprehend. And comprehend that possibly each and every of the negativity that has been solid on the Ummah would properly be possibly Allahs way of putting us able to exhibit to Him rather of scuffling with each and every thing else even as in actuality that's He who helps it and in hardship-free words He who provides up it if in hardship-free words all of us turn to Him and components up being disobedient and giving skill to and fearing those who will quicker or later die like us. action is necessary notwithstanding the right action is even better effective. i trust that we are being punished as Muslims mutually, and allah has possibly allowed our enemies skill over us, because of this disobedience. you won't be able to trust he controls the strong and undesirable in case you do not understand this also. we elect to coach Islam as we incredibly trust that that's the in hardship-free words thanks to fulfillment.
