I am using windows XP

The Properties on the printer to see if the default settings is set for 1

I select the 'printer' icon near the clock, right click it and cancell all print jobs. Turn off power to the printer and then back on. When i do the printer turns itself on and starts printing agan!!!

turn off the printer and the computer, and re-start it.
whnever u give the print command, at that dialog box chk the no. of copies to be printed. u must have accidently set it at more than 1.
u can also chk it from the printer(u get this whn u go to start)--properties. in that usually in advanced there is an option of print spooled 1st. unckek it. and whn setting printer defaults, chk no. of copies as 1.

Check the printer cache (spooler), you may have to stop and restart the spooler service.
