What do you think? I mean, when people think about nudist teens, the first thing that comes to their mind is " O my goodness, I wouldn't want to be their mother/father". At least that's all I ever hear anyone say. Why dosen't anyone feel that the behavior of teens varies from person to person?
I am a teen, but I don't do the things that most teens do, I've never even had a boyfriend(which sucks, my own fault tho), but everyone that I meet up with always has something bad to say about me or about teens in general. How can I change that? I don't like the fact that I am a big sister to really little kids and I don't want these peoples opinions affecting how my siblings look at me. I don't want them to think I am an idiot or a hoodlum or something.
The only thing that I think that would make people think differently about me is my black eyeliner/black t-shirts. It's just who I am, is that what makes people hate teens so bad?

Yeah, people should think before they speak to teens. I find that some adults that speak bad about teens were just as "bad" or even worse when they were younger. If a teen wants to be a nudest then ok. I guess people think: nude -> easy access to genitals -> sex all the time. I know there are ppl who have met nudest and said they're really snobby.

Anyway, I'm not sure how you alone can change the view of teens by adults. I guess the best you can do is make people see you as an individual, not a statistic. I'm the oldest sibling out of 3. I have 2 younger sisters. My younger sister is 16mts younger than me and my youngest sister is 4 yrs younger than me. Even though all that bad press about teens was going around my sisters didn't see me as that. I don't know if it was cause we were so close in age or if they knew me and they knew that stuff didn't apply. But I'd like to think it was the second one! :)

If any random person could come up to one of your siblings and say any random think about you based on how you look or what they think about teens and your siblings belived it, maybe you should spend more time w/ your siblings and getting to know each other. The thing about siblings is they live w/ you (or in some cases visit every once in a while) and they should know you. If anyone comes tries to say something about you that's based on a stat or something they should know enough to think, "my sister isn't like that..."

*looks at what she just wrote* That's kinda wordy, but the point's there...I hope :)

I know what you mean by that. Teens always get put on the low end of society when it comes to the opinions of adults, and the truth is there is nothing you can do to change the opinions adults ahve about teens in general, but you have full control over what teens think about you.

I didn't have my frirst boyfriend until I was 20 and I'm actually quite proud of that. When I was a teenager I use to say "dating ends in either two ways, marriage, or breaking up, and i'm not ready for either" be proud of who you are and what you are.

You can be the teen the beats the standards and you never know you might start something. I know what you mean about how you look. I wore dark clothes, my eyebrow is pierced, and i have 7 piercings in my eyes, and with the first look adults think i'm a criminal, but i wanted to change that and so did all my friends who looked similar to me. At my school we started a group for those teens who wanted to make a difference and that's just what we did. we volunteered in as many ways as we could in our community, from cleaning elderly or handicapted people's yards, to cheering up sick kids at the hospital and bringing puppies to visit them...

people started having different views on teens and at least in my community adults because to realize that not all teens were criminals...

something to remember is that it doesn't matter what people think about you as long as you know it's not true then it's their stupidity... yeah... alot of adults are ignorant about teens... and that will never change, but that's nothing that you should worry about just focus on doing what you know is right and changing the sterio type that teens are given where you live.

i never cared what anyone thought or said to me. i wear black, boots, trench-coats etc and if someone bothered me i told them to F**K off!
example we were at the october festival about 2 years ago and there were about 5 of us with our black trenchcoats, etc and so many people pointed at us and said we were in a cult, we even had an old man ask if we were the ____ gang? and if we were he could get a lot of money from capturing us. we just laughed and said "good luck bringing us down old man."
there pretty much isnt anythign you can do about it..no offense but teens do alot of talking as well...about old people etc. dont you think they want to have this stop?
we all just have to mingle with society...no matter how frustrating it is.

Yea, lots of bad stereo types and painting everyone with the same paintbrush. We all generalize (i just did it again), there are definatly lots of great teens out threre and it's unfortunate that we don't hear more about them.

I incredibly agree!! incredibly everyone seems to be, of direction, extra attracted to undesirable information and for this reason hear extra with regards to the final irresponsible behaviour of the "generic" teenager and interior the top, get a heavily undesirable photograph human beings! And for me, all of it fairly is exasperating because of the fact i do no longer and in no way will drink, smoke, swear comfy or have any sexual adventure in besides till marriage (or 18 a minimum of) and that i've got a marginally great courting with my family individuals, I artwork nicely in college, watch solid video clips and study solid books, etc. I safeguard and preserve myself. Why do (maximum) human beings could in the present day get the photograph of a few recklessly brainless weirdo with a foul haircut and diverse piercings whilst they hear the word "teenager"? Do they think of it incredibly is anymore mature to take adolescents as an insult or rapidly generalize approximately somebody for who they are? i do no longer. i think of something's incorrect with them in the event that they do! As for how you advise or think of human beings will think of of you in yet differently, i do no longer think of you may place self assurance in makeup and t-shirts of a undeniable colour! have faith me, you're able to do extra useful than that! I depended on a solid coat of makeup and too-tight-outfits-sufficient-to-instruct-my-woma... to look older via lack of self assurance on how i became and how others perceived me, yet then i found out it became all incorrect and supreme to merely be myself. "Myself" became the well mannered and form area of me, if I do say so myself, so no injury in that and that i became ultimately being honest (and my age, ultimately). you may provide off solid vibes-- you are able to instruct you're no longer purely the generic teenager or a hoodlum, as you so finely mentioned. ; ) nicely, ultimately, thank you for asking this question-- i became fairly getting all bottled up in anger in this count-- and it became high-quality to help somebody else with an analogous concept. Or a minimum of, i'm hoping I helped you!! And solid success. you have have been given a solid head on your shoulders and are confident to attain existence. : ) P.S. anticipate boyfriends. think of that maximum of your existence will in all probability be spent with somebody else, so why no longer stretch the only existence somewhat extra beneficial? till you're fairly waiting? ; )
