No, it's been proven over and over again (despite anecdotes to the contrary) that this is hogwash. People like cops and hospital nurses notice crazy people, then look to see if the moon is full. When it is, they say "oh gee, the full moon makes people crazy." When it isn't full, they forget about it.

There are two things to consider.

1- does the moon directly affect people's mood?

The answer to that is no. Some people would claim the contrary, but any serious study would show this just isn't so. When someting happens, people would try to explain it away, and if it turns out the moon was full, then they blame it on the moon. If it is not a full moon, then they blame it on something else instead.

2- can the moon affect us indirectly? Well, on that respect, the answer is possibly yes, and here is why. This full moon mood effect thing goes back a very long while (think of all the werewolf stories, some are 700 or 800 years old) and in those days, there were no such things as exterior lighting. The effect is that crooks, highwaymen, pirates and criminals could more easily go out and do their bad deeds because there was a bit of light for them to stalk victims.

That is how such legends are born.

If moon's gravity was to influence us, then it would do so also at the new moon, as then the sun and moon are aligned the same way as during a full moon (except that on a new moon, the sun and the moon are on the same side, while full moon, the sun is one side and the moon the other). You never heard of anyone claiming the new moon is affecting people?

Yes there is... for some people - in fact it's where we get the word "lunatic" from.

This is particularly true of people who are already mentally unstable. The wife of a good friend of mine suffers from bi-polar disorder and she is frequently more unstable during the full moon period - her three suicide attempts have all coincided with the full moon period.

The problem in proving something like this, rather than anedotal evidence, is that there are so many other factors to take into account. Most people are not noticeably affected by the full moon - certainly not enough to attempt suicide or have a major traffic accident. This means that any signficicant influence experienced by some people gets "lost" in the general "noise" of other factors.

For example, people affected by the moon may experience more road accidents at night during the full moon but the overall accident rate may go down because for the majority the increased visibility caused by the extra light of a full moon may cause most accidents to be less likely.

Its true! The moon does affect us. The gravitational pull of the moon affects the tides (water) – and people are made up of mostly water! The word lunatic actually is derived from the whole moon/mood thing (luna meaning moon)…. That’s also why when crazy things happen people say “it must be a full moon out..” cause its true! It’s a proven fact that more people actually commit suicide during a full moon. Crazy, right?

Ascendant - the style you're perceived sunlight - spirit Moon - thoughts Mercury - the thoughts, the style you communicate/think of Venus - what attracts you Mars - yourchronic Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto rather do no longer make a contribution plenty on your character till they make touch along with your very own planets (as indexed above). desire this helped.

I think the brightness of a full moon cuts the sleep of a number of people who then function on too little sleep and, like you'd expect with thousands or millions of people stumbling around on too little sleep, there are going to be more accidents, more fights, etc.

I don't think it's been actually proven. But people who work in places like ERs and police stations will tell you they are a lot busier and have crazies when the moon is full.

I believe it is your own moods that go in cycles similar to that of the moon going in cycles. The moon does not control your emotions. It controls the waves on the beaches. That is about it.
