It's not normal for most people to live a life of celibacy. Sure priests get the urge to have sex. And to curb that urge the young priests are given some sort of a drug. Its true, a priest in his 20's told me. SAD! Sex is not sinful, however, unless it is inflicted on an under age or non consenting partner. I do not consider adultery the right thing to do, of course.

I have absolutely no doubt that every single one of them has the urge. The real question is if they all abide by their vow of celibacy. We all know about the little boy/priest scandal, and there is a huge number of priests who leave the priesthood every year to get married. (I know one of them!) But, how many OTHERS are there who don't abide by it?
Actually, the reason priests take this vow of celibacy is because of cases of them having common law wives and children before the rule was put in place. Since it wasn't a marriage, they were allowed to have these relationships. However, upon their deaths, the wives and children were trying to get their estates instead of it going to the church. So, the Church decided to end all kinds of union for priests altogether.

I don’t think it says anywhere in the bible (or any where else for that matter) that priest do get not the urge to have sex. It is the tradition of the religion that says they don’t have sex. It is my understanding (and please note I am not catholic) that in bible times there were a certain group of men (Eunuchs, I believe) that chose to be castrated in order to give themselves totally to God. Now if I am right, there is a big difference in a priest of today and an Eunuch of yesteryear. One may want to have sex and can and the other may want to but can’t. I do not however recall ANY scripture that says a man, in order to serve God, has to be denied married sexual relations. Again, I think it was a “man” law that made that the “law”. I also believe that because of the man-imposed rulings is why we have many of the problems in today’s religious world. I may be wrong but I feel pretty confident that I am right.

I think the Catholic Church would be light years ahead if they'd let their priests get married and have normal sex lives. No, it is not normal to bottle up and frustrate such a powerful and natural human drive, I think frustrating it is one big reason why such bizarre events sometimes have been reported in the Church. Nuns, too, should be allowed to have normal sex lives, it does not imperil anybody's morality, or piety, or love of and dedication to God to express physical affection in a mature, loving way.

I am sure they get the urge. IT is just a matter of having the mind set that they will give it up for god. I dont see why they should though.
