I am not a Democrat or Republican, but lean Democratic on most issues.
I do not want America to fail. I want to see her live up to the ideals set forth by the Constitution and Declaration of Independence.
I think that Neil Peart said it all really well in the song A Farewell To Kings from their 1977 album, A Farewell To Kings, "The hypocrites are slandering the sacred halls of truth, ancient nobles showering their bitterness on youth. Can we find the minds that made us strong? Can we learn to feel what's right, and what's wrong?"
"The minds that made us strong", the founding fathers, laid out the Constitution to give us a foundation upon which to build our nation. The problem is that that foundation is has been damaged from years of abuse from both sides.
Perhaps, it’s time to pull up the foundation blocks and give the scaffolding a good shove. Bring down the whole fetid contraption; political, media, congressional and corporate. Rattle the cages and send the denizens of the think-tanks and the right-wing foundations scampering into the streets for cover.
Let the whole rotten contrivance crash to earth in a heap; there’s not one part of it (or party in it) except the Constitution that's worth saving.
That's about as creative as I can get.

I am a Rep...I don't see that....What I see is the Dems. saying over and over again how the GOP is failing and how bad of a job they are doing....but I never see any plans from them....I here things like...the we need a plan for leaving Iraq...but they don't seem to have any ideas.....I hear no more wire tapping, do you have anyother suggestions to get info we need without letting them know we are watching them, I have yet to see one from any democrat....I don't mind that the Dem. don't agree with what the other party does...that is the right we have as americans...but I would like to see you put forth some other solutions, other than saying "we need to to this" and then not saying how....
I am pretty conservative...I think abortion is wrong, I think that if there are laws in place that can charge a person with murder for killing a baby still in the womb, then the mother should not be able to do that either. I think we are to leanient on prisoners, our own and POWs. There are many things that I dont' see I to I with the DEMS on. However, until I see any viable alternative, other that just not likeing something, I am not going to change.
For the most part I think they are just saying everything that is the oppisite of Bush because he is out of favor right now, so if they say they don't like what he had done, even if they don't have anything better, they will win more votes...which is what its all about anyway....for both parties.

Democrats do not want america to fail. Republicans may want to believe that, but it just isn't true. Just as it isn't true that Republicans like to kill soldiers.
The problem with your question is its generality and biased perspective.
"The DNC appears to want our country defeated on the world stage, both diplomatically and militarily, for the sole purpose of ejecting the GOP."
here, you make a broad statement, but give nothing for anyone to comment on. next time, try specifics, so that people can comment on your perspective.
that is, if you actually want serious comments and an actual conversation

Geez, where to start.... First, not all liberals are Democrats, and not all Democrats are liberals. I'll assume that you want to focus on liberals regardless of any party affiliations.
Second, the premise of your question works just as well in reverse, e.g. the RNC appears to want to monger fear and suspicion, turn Americans against one another, and undermine the most cherished tenets of the Constitution, for the sole purpose of retaining power. I see this intention as Orwellian and utterly un-American; the sort of cynicism and pessimism that allowed the rise of Mussolini, Hitler, and Stalin. Explain why my perception is wrong.
Third, it seems to be the liberals and the libertarians who understand that the United States is at its best and most true to its ideals when it projects hope instead of fear. Interesting that both persuasions share a root word, liberty, which conservatives of the Bush-Muntz mold would jettison in the name of making tax cuts permanent.
You may relish branding the "blame America first" label on liberals, but the current pack of Republicans is the "blame AmeriCANS first" crowd. Islamic extremists from the Middle East destroy the WTC, damage the Pentagon, and nearly get to the White House or Congress - and the reaction of the Bush crowd is to pass legislation (PATRIOT Act) and institute programs (NSA wiretaps) that target AMERICANS and cause AMERICANS to question their own and each others' behaviors... much as YOU are doing right now with your question.
[ADDED] To be clear, my second paragraph is intended to illustrate how inane the original question is. I do NOT believe that conservatives are fascists and authoritarian (well, not most of them) - point being that just because liberals disagree with the RNC (as the questioner would have it) does NOT mean that one side or the other is looking for America to fail. Obviously, AMERICANS want AMERICA to succeed.
The question is just plain ugly in its premise that there is only one way to be American and to show it. I don't castigate the RNC as anti-American, but I must castigate Muntz as such by dint of his question. Other answerers from the right of center - Yetti is a good example - perceive matters intelligently and respectfully.

I am a liberal. I am also a veteran. I served fifteen years in the US Army, over the course of three wars. I retired at fifteen years with a medical disability. Basically I have given my life for my country because my disability is eventually going to kill me. I don't hate my country nor do I want it to fail. I see that you ask for people to back up their postings with fact, yet you make a blanket statement about Liberals without basing it in fact.

Democrats are as much American as any Republican. And no real Americans want to see their country fail or their fellow citizens suffer grievous harm.
The debate over foreign engagements is a healthy way a true democracy decides its actions, keep the debates going and the true course shall be demonstrated.

Why do you think liberals want America to fail? Is it the same sorry bs about speaking our mind and wanting peace? I think you are inccorect in your assumption that the DNC wants the world to see us as defeated. I think the "world" is intelligent enough to see what is going on with their own eyes and form their own opinions....and I doubt that they think we're "failing", more likely they think our pres is failing. And as an American, I reserve the right to speak out when I see something that doesn't work....we ALL have that right, including you, however mis-informed you may be. The banter between the parties right now is the very foundation of our electorial process, however, if you are thinking about all the scandals that have come to light - are we supposed to just ignore them and not hold the administration accountable just to "save face" with the rest of the world?
I'm sorry, but I was under the impression that freedom of speech is one of the foundations of our country, along with freedom of assembly and freedom to petition the government. If we give up these freedoms then we thumb our noses at the people who died actually establishing these freedoms that we so cherish. We could always go back to the times (pre-US) when we had to support the king no matter what....and if we spoke out we'd be put in the stocks or hanged. But then again, back then - most common people weren't educated and really didn't know what was going on.
Sort of sounds like now doesn't it - all those people screaming that "liberals" hate America - I say to them: get a dictionary and look up the word liberal, because it seems that you are misinformed about what it means to be liberal - Jesus was a liberal.
For myself - I am thankful that I live in the US so that I can, by my God given right and my constitutional right, speak my mind and disagree with a fear and war-mongering bully administration.
Fear is the foundation of most governments; but it is so sordid and brutal a passion, and renders men in whose breasts it predominates so stupid and miserable, that Americans will not be likely to approve of any political institution which is founded on it. - John Adams
However weak our country may be, I hope we shall never sacrifice our liberties. - Alexander Hamilton
“I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.”— Beatrice Hall, The friends of Voltaire, 1906
War is not the best engine for us to resort to; nature has given us one in our commerce, which if properly managed, will be a better instrument for obliging the interested nations of Europe to treat us with justice. - Thomas Jefferson
When men yield up the privilege of thinking, the last shadow of liberty quits the horizon." - Thomas Paine
Naturally the common people don't want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country. - Hermann Goering
No matter that patriotism is too often the refuge of scoundrels. Dissent, rebellion, and all-around hell-raising remain the true duty of patriots. - Barbara Ehrenreich
We must not confuse dissent with disloyalty. When the loyal opposition dies, I think the soul of America dies with it. - Edward R Murrow
Once a government is committed to the principle of silencing the voice of opposition, it has only one way to go, and that is down the path of increasingly repressive measures, until it becomes a source of terror to all its citizens and creates a country where everyone lives in fear. - Harry Truman
As Mankind becomes more liberal, they will be more apt to allow that all those who conduct themselves as worthy members of the community are equally entitled to the protections of civil government. I hope ever to see America among the foremost nations of justice and liberality. - George Washington

Plain and simple: Liberals are always looking for a reason to complain. ****NOTICE THIS***** They put together these wonderful lavish protests against the war. THIS PROVES THEY ARE IDIOTS. Think about it, did protesting make us leave Vietnam early? Nope, sure didn't, it was a waste of time by millions of protesters. They think that protesting now will some way make us leave IRAQ. They are idiots, and the government gives them the freedom to protest so that liberals MAY ACTIVELY DO NOTHING.
