For example, Why do so many people expect somebody else to provide them with an education, housing, food, medical care, etc?

Another example: Why do people insist on bringing babies into this world when they are not prepared for parenthood & have little to offer a child, & little to contribute to society? Do they think it's the taxpayer's responsibility to provide for their family? Do they think it's their mom & dad's responsibility?

Why are some people not willing to work for what they want? Why are they not willing to wait? How do YOU feel about paying for their selfishness, laziness, ignorance, or just plain bad choices?

How did things get this bad, & is there a way out of it? Can & should the government continue to subsidize everything?

Lastly, is it fair to those who do try to do the right thing & who do pay their own way for the things they want and need in life? What are your thoughts on personal responsibility?

The concept of personal responsibility means nothing to most people these days.

The answer to your question is there is a way out of it. It is the Libertarian party. http://www.lp.org

The one thing I do disagree with you on is education. The government should provide education to develop a stronger base of employees to protect the country's economy. Education has changed from a point where the costs can be bourne by the users. It is necessary for the economy to provide an educated and capable workforce.

Good question personal responsibility and liberty go hand in hand. However the people elect politicians that pass repressive laws in an effort to create a socialist nanny state. The government has no right to pass laws designed to protect one from one-self. Many use the public burden argument to justify these laws. However public burden is a better argument for ending all socialist programs rather than ending liberty.

Personal responsibilty is a lost concept in our times now. There are a few of us that still take pride in providing for ourselves.
