ok..todays accompishment(I know I spelled that one wrong)..I disconected that plug and set my timing and it did make a differance It was still a little slugish but it had more power so I tightand down on my valves and was able to burn out my tires but it was still a little off so I tightend down some more and it lacked on power again so I think tomorrow I will try and back off a little at a time and see what results I can get
thanks will

i own a repair shop, and there is a sequence for adjusting the valves on it,if you didn't follow it right they are going to be off real bad,and i think that's whats wrong with it,i have done the same thing before myself, you need to go back over it and look at it,and see if anything needs re-adjusting,this is the only thing i can tell you right now good luck with it,you,ll get it,it may take a while,i hope this help,s.

if you did every thing correct then could it be that you need a new short block. Piston rings and or pistons worn out? You did leak coolant right so water going into cylinders is not a good thing. Rust and water in oil is killer for engines. So I say you need a whole new motor but what I would do I go to the junk yard a find a good short block and bolt those new heads onto that one. Or rebuild it and dont use Felpro gaskets go for Mr. Gasket. Its cheap from Summit racing and Jegs. Ive always had good luck with these gaskets. I will list some good sites below

Find out what the valve tolerances are and adjust them cold.
Adjust the valves without the engine running. Rotate the engine by hand to adjust each cylinder.
Run the engine until warm and re-adjust the valves. Be sure both valves on each cylinder, being adjusted, is closed. There should be a little movement in the rocker arms if they are. Be sure the plug wires are on the proper plugs. Recheck all wiring and vacuum hoses and make sure they are hooked up properly.
Hope this helps.

this may be a long shot but it is a lot simpler than going through all that other crap. The timing could be 180 degrees out. basically the distributor rotor is on the opposite side of where is should be. I know it sounds like it would not run but it will and it will idle ok and drive but like crap as you said. but i did this accidentally on my first engine rebuild. I would say try this first is is the cheapest and fastest fix. then move on to the other suggestions.

if you got the new head shaved then you should have got the other head shaved too, because if you did shave the head, then 1 head is sitting closer then the other, also adjust the valves by letting your motor run at idle.loosen the first rocker till you hear a rattle, then tighten it till it stops, then give it another half to 3 quarters turn, then do the same to the others.

if at idle the vehicle appears to be running correctly and there isnt any notice of a miss and the valves arent noisy, i would check your ignition timing. if the vehicle is actually running i would say you did a decent job adjusting your valves you just need to finish with the proper adjustments

did you unplug the EST timing connector before setting the timing? might be part of the power loss.
