I, myself, am taking business in college and also am planning on running my own business someday. If that is your goal then you should definitely take business management. Marketing is only a small part of managing your own business. If you take that, then you will not have all the tools necessary to run a business. If you take business management, then that should include a little bit of marketing, along with everything else you need to know.
Good Luck!

If it is between marketing and management then definitely go with marketing. Rarely do recent grads go into management right away without a master's degree, and management is a very "soft" degree in that it teaches you no real skills that businesses value. At least with marketing you will learn some skills that business can utilize. Employers look for people who can add value to their organization, so if I were you I would study something that businesses can use.

In the end Kara, little will matter in what career path you choose. Yes one will be more relevant, but you truely won't know what you want to do until you actually take a stab at a certain career. With both focuses providing you a Business Degree, it will open almost any door you want. I began doing accounting, and now have moved to finance, and now have thought of getting mroe into the marketing side of business, which when the time comes I will seek those opprotunities out.
So Business Mgmt, or Marketing, in either area you will have to be a good comunicator and knowledgable...you should do fine in either area.

Marketing. Business management is too generic. You'll have an easier time getting a marketing job. You can learn business management on the job.

I suggest marketing. Business Management is too broad, unless you decide to get your master's degree. Marketing is great, its still number based and will be extremely helpful in the job market and in private business. Good luck.

Do either one, then get an MBA. That will open doors for you, especially if you get it from a prestigious University.
