Are the US stock exchanges the BEST exchanges in the world? Or do any of the foreign stock exchanges move better? Do any of them move faster? The emerging stock exchanges? Which ones?

The word "BEST" is a subjective term, meaning different things to different people. You must be more specific, not general, for us not to guess.

faster in what respect? executions?

when I hit the Buy button, it takes less than half a second to execute the trade and return a confirmation, and most of that time is internet travel time to Chicago and back to Oklahoma.

How fast do you want it to be?

The American exchanges certainly move more volume than any other country, and probably more than all of Europe combined. Is that "better", or "best" or "faster?"

The US is a "mature" economy. You won't get the huge returns of emerging markets (like Asian-Pacific markets). The trade off is that it is more stable than the emerging markets for political reasons.

I can't find any direct comparison, but the link list major Asian-Pacific markets. You can click on each index and see how well they have done compared to the S&P 500.

There are also a couple of ETFs that specialize in emerging markets. (type EFA or EEM into quote section) They have had great returns over the last 5 years.
