doctors don't charge for the thyroid test, the laboratory that processes & actually does the blood work is who you get the bill from... not the doctor's office. you can still probably call your doctor's office and ask them the price of the lab test & if you don't have insurance if there is a discount for it if you pay in advance (sometimes they do this).

in my experience it has been the cost of an office visit plus around $30 for the test. Thyroid levels should be retested after 30 days of medication to see if the meds are leveling off the high or low levels. After the levels are regulated you should get tested every 6 months or sooner if your symptoms return.
