Scenario:
You alone have survived a viral holocost. Everyone else in your city is gone. You have no idea if you are alone or if others have survived in other places.

Please think now, and not just write a stupid 1 sentance answer. What would you do? Where would you go? How would you try and survive?

As I said, I am looking for real answers, not silly ones on this question. If you can't answer with a well thought out paragraph or 2, please don't bother answering. Thank you :)

BTW, when I say you alone have survived, I mean, you... no one else you know. But, there might be others who survived.

One thing some of your are forgetting. Without humans to run the power plants and such, it would be only a matter of days before they shut down for some reason or another. You would have to assume that there is no power. This means, you can't "pump" gas (You'd have to siphon it somehow), non-canned food would rot...etc :) Good answers so far, I need more!

Also, feel free to assume that you are immune from the virus (Think "The Stand", but no hogwash ghouls or goblins) ...

I would go to the library and get the following books: How to survive in the wild, Radio Ham Operating for Dummies, How to make clean potable water, First Aide manual. Helicopter flight manuals, and maintenance manuals. As well as other books I believe should be kept safe so that their knowledge will not be lost to the ages.

Go to a hospital and see what kind of medical supplies I could gather.

I would also find supermarket transfer warehouses to see how much canned food I could get.

Go to the local gun shop and arm up.

Get me a big *** 4X4, and add fuel tanks in the back.

Go to a Radio Shack and pilfer as much radio equipment, for broadcast and reception.

Get a generator, a DVD player, and a ton of Porn videos ... if I am in deed alone, then I won;'t feel like I am by myself.

Wow, that's an interesting question.

Well, I'm assuming that since there was a widespread virus, that it must have taken some time to spread through my city (which is very large, and has a population of over a million people). That being the case, I would assume that government would have quarantined the city and prevented people from leaving. Otherwise, those who had not yet contracted the disease would have left as soon as they started seeing the others dropping like flies. I probably would have been quarantined in some sort of medical facility by CDC staff, and thus would not have many options as to leaving or what to do for survival. In the absolute "worst case" scenario, the government might "contain" the virus by exploding some sort of bomb to clean out the city. Well....maybe not. Maybe I just watch too many movies. ;)

Anyway, assuming that the virus spread too quickly for the government to react, the first thing I would do would be to hit the phone lines or the internet (if they were working) to see if other members of my family outside this state survived, or whether the problem was larger than my city. If another group of people had survived, I would grab my stock of emergency supplies from my cupboard (which has things like non-perishable foods, water, first aid kit, matches, flashlight, etc.) and find something to cover my face with. With my "face mask", I'd carry my supplies to my car, make sure it's filled up with gas, and drive off to the nearest populated place to try to find a solution. Oh, and of course, I'd bring some clothes and my wonderful cats, assuming they also survived. I would think that the survivors might have begun to come up with a way to combat the virus, and would cast my lot with them. Even if they didn't find a way to beat it...better than dying alone, eh?

I would start by sending an email to everyone I know in other countries. I would also turn on CNN to see if the news is up and see if anyone is broadcasting. I'd check the radio, check the internet, and so on. If still no signs, then I would pack up a bus with supplies and drive to the nearest major city, under the assumption that others would to. If nobody shows, I would probably take up residence in Trump tower and live off of canned food. I would look into where manufacturers of nutrition bars keep there warehouses and I would go raid them. I would also pick up a couple books on survival from the local library. I would then get all the books I can regarding the history of humanity and collect all the information about how we were wiped out, and leave in a stack for the next race to find, so that they could learn from our mistakes.

Food, water and shelter. Somewhere without rotting corpses. Large stores with everything. Maybe I would live at walmart for awhile.Or at the mall. I would have to have protection from any wild animals or stray hungry dogs. Hmmmm. Yeah, did any animals survive? Chances are many places would be a wreck and it would be hard to drive anywhere. Battery operated radios ATV or motorcycle. You didn't say how fast people died but it would most likely have been chaotic and messy. So, is Tom Hanks going to be in this movie? Maybe I would learn how to fly a helicopter and a bulldozer eventually. It's an interesting but gruesome thought. If I survived than maybe my kids did too.

OMG! I would go nuts. I would have all the clothes and fine things in this world.
But I wouldn't be happy. How could I? I'm all alone, and the social status doesn't even matter because I'm alone!!!
Like you said... There is no one else. That means even if I looked for them I couldn't find them. But I wouldn't know there was anyone else, so I would be searching for them..... Probably for the rest of my life....
So it really wouldn't matter what I had access to. No chance at a happy life. And no chance of ever procriating (sp) with another human. So all my dreams would be crushed.
I would have access to all the water parks/ theme parks in the world and couldn't ride anything cause there would be nobody to run them. That would really stink!
The best part would be the deserted malls.
All the clothes and shoes I could ever imagine...
I am a female ..........
What else can I say?!
