In the past i had a pond filled with koi, the water fall would be on almost all day, the water becomes cloudy, then when we changed the water all the koi was gone!!! they died, the ones left were really sick, there veins were red in there fins when i mean red i mean really red and there eyes looked like that were pushed in or somthing. there eyes were red, i was able to treat 1, for some reason the other fish in the same tank died, i think there scales were kinda dry too, they didn't have that slimy coat to protect there scales, Somone please help me So next time i get koi in the pond wich will be soon they wont get sick, im thinking is becuase there in the sun to much but i had a rock shelter where they hid in, so i dont know. any information is great! thanks!!!

Was the waterfall part of the filter? That should never be turned off. Red veins can be caused by a bacterial infection, a parasite infection or ammonia or nitrite poisoning. Not keeping the filter on could of caused those things. When you added new water did you dechlorinate it?

Koi need 250 each and shouldn't be in a pond less then 1000 gallons.

it sounds like your water quality got really bad (cloudy) which caused a bacterial infection, then when you changed the water
you put further stress on your fish and they died
take better care of the water, do regular water changes and be sure to dechlorinate each time, also add aquarium salt as a good
healing and reventative treatment
get a good book about koi and ponds for information
