Does anyone know what the odds of conceiving are if I had sex 2 days before ovulation? My husband and I are ttc. I have heard that a woman of average fertility has a 20% chance of conceiving every month. Does anyone know how accurate this is?

Your best chances of conception are the 2 days before ovulation and the day of ovulation. Sperm can live up to 5 days, but generally only live 2-3 days. It is better that the sperm is present when the egg is released, because once it is, there is only a 12-24 hour window for the egg to be fertilized. Therefore, there is a good chance you have conceived. Good luck.

I think the odds are actually less than that on average. But for someone actively trying, the odds are higher. If you had sex 2 days before ovulation, you could easily be prego. Sperm can live up to 48 hours. The best way to try, and it's worked for us, is every other day starting from day 10 of your cycle thru day 16. So with that method, if you had sex 2 days before ovulation, you would have had sex again on the ovulation day.

You might have been ovulating the last time that you and your husband had unprotected sex. But you can't take a pregnancy test until your period is at least 2 days late. I was only 2 days late when I tested positive with 3 dollar store pregnancy tests. And I had swollen, hot breasts, wild mood swings and a ferocious appetite only 5 days after conception!

Well, I used a fertility monitor and had sex two days before Peak and that worked 100 percent! It depends on how strong your hubby's sperm are and how long they live. I was 38 when I got pregnant the first time. We got it on the first try. I think it was 3 days prior to Peak.
Second pregancy, we tried twice before Peak and it worked on 3 days and 1 day prior.
The key is to have the sperm there waiting to attach that egg as soon as it begins it's journey down the tubes!

there's a good chance since you had sex around the time of ovulation!! I would wait about 3 weeks and take a test if your cycle doesn't come on by then!! Good Luck
