The two party system does not work. All Republicans and Democrats should be given the boot and several parties should take their place. Only if this is done, will America become the democracy that it was meant to be.

Nor connections with Democrats either, right? Sure. I would vote for a third party candidate that 1) was pro-life 2) was pro-death penalty 3) was against drugs 4) was big on the military 5) was of upstanding character.

Is there such a candidate?

Yes. It would provide the ballast necessary for equitable elections. The down side is it would be subject to the financial influences of both Dems and Republicans unless it had a strong national caucus that adequately represented the fulll demographics of the US.

It would make it far more difficult to ear mark legislation; in the same note it would make it more difficult to pass legislation. In our early days we had three parties with fewer states. It often took years just to pass legislation. Case in point the Central Pacific Railroad. It took twenty years of lobbying just to get the funding to start the survey of the path.

The closest we came to having a REAL third party was Ross Perot. Had he not backed out and then come back in he might have made it.

How did he come so close? Public disillusionment and a fresh face backed by enough money to buy the TV ads!

There are plenty of parties in this country: Libertarian partyt ewas founded by Thomas Jefferson! They even have a congressional seat or two! there are greens, communists, to name a couple of others.

THEY JUST DON'T HAVE MEGABUCKS TO BUY ADS!!!

A third party would be nice although the two other parties usually take over what the third was using, such as health care and other much saught after things.

Only if there were laws in place guaranteeing that a majority is required (that means over 50%) when deciding issues. What if we had a president that only got 34% of the vote, that wouldn't work too well.

ummmmmmm... if it was a third party there be no connections to either party or another party... they would be separate. I think you have it right in your misspelling of Republican - Republicrats a combination of Republican and Democrat...lol ... I personally am Libertarian.

What's your problem with republicans? I think it's funny, you see all of these liberals throwing insults, but you never see any republicans doing that. If you are the standard of a democrat, then you can keep your political party.
