I have a 5 yr old in kindergarten, under the math section it says he needs to be able to complete a basic 1-2-1-2 pattern...

When given the pattern 1-2-1-2, he should be able to extend it as:
1-2-1-2-1-2-1-2, etc. I assume it applies to any sequence of alternating items (e.g. circle, square, circle, square or big, little, big, little).

If its from a "report card" and the grammar is correct, it means that your child is able to supply the next digits (words) indicated by the pattern, i.e. -1-2.

It means he can look at a repeating pattern (like, 'Blue, red, blue, red') and tell which comes next in the series.

when they walk in rows they should be able to start walking with the left leg and shouting one, next the right leg and they should shout two.
