dear yukthi,
History is a simple subject yet it becomes tough all because of dates. so when ever u sit up to learn jus have a pen n a note pad. jot down all the events all the names of battles wars name of kings etc. then learn it will be easy for u. note : dont throw away the note pad u can use it for the next exam. All the best.

Try focusing on the important names and salient details.
eg. WW2 -1939/45, US enter 1943. Hitler -Austria, Sudetenland,Poland. Neville Chamberlain, Winston Churchill, Josef Stalin, FDRoosevelt. Principle battles; D-Day, Battle of Britain, Normandy Invasion, Stalingrad.
When you have absorbed these details, re-read your notes, and they may trigger your memory.
Good luck in the exams.

The best way is to study. Also try to find non-fiction novels about the subject to supplement your text book. Novels are not near as boring as text books!
