Yes, you can hire someone to do that.
Your heating bills will decrease afterwards and you will sleep better knowing that you have chosen to use a fuel that is less harmful to the environment.

You might want to reconsider the idea. I lived in a house with a natural gas furnace for 10 years. Last winter I moved into a LARGER house with an old oil fired furnace. Yes natural gas is less per unit of fuel, but you get more BTU's out of a unit of oil than you do from gas. My heating bills are noticeably smaller with an older furnace in a larger house.

yeah....you'll have to keep in mid the BTU output though. I owned a house in which someone had converted the oil furnace into a gas furnance and it was considerably more expensive than the original before alteration.

As the furnace guy put it, it's like putting a Volkswagen engine in a Cadillac.

No, it was not designed for the that. You need to buy a gas furnace to coincide with the higher BTU's. Hire a professional for the installation.
