...I admit, I know NOTHING about cars. My CEL was on, and the diagnosis code was P-0117, which as I understand it, is a problem with my ECT [sensor]? I have a '97 Honda Civic Hatchback. I recently had a new thermostat and radiator put in, and the CEL went on shortly before I got those 2 things done. Before I take it in to a mechanic, I want to make sure it isn't something I can fix myself... (ANY input would be MOST appreciated)

P0117 indicates that the PCM "sees" a lower than expected voltage at the coolant temperature sensor.
The obvious is, check the connector for the coolant temperature sensor for the PCM, (not for the dash instrumen)t. Check that the wire(s) for the sensor are secure, and not chafed or pinched behind something that could cause a "short" to ground.
If there is nothing clearly obvious, it will take a scanner, (not a code reader) for proper diagnostics and repair, as the tech must connect his equipment to the car and "see" what the PCM sees, and remedy the cause.

Good Luck
