It seems like every (yes every) single time I come to Yahoo Answers, there are 5 or 6 questions asked by white people about stuff like: Why do black girls have big asses? And, why do black people have dark gums? And Why do black people have attitude problems? They are huge exagerations of stero types. I don't understand why anyone would be so culture-blind and ask a question like that. Why are these people so worried about how black people live their lives. If it bothers you, then help make a change.

This is in regards to the comment that DrPhilamina made. My whole family is black. And NONE of us have black gums. Out of all of my hundreds of black friends, may two have dark gums. Saying black people or even MOST black people have black gums is comepletely wrong and STEROTYPICAL. Educate yourself. As for the rump thing, there are several races who have larger butts like Puerto Ricans and Italians. There are plenty of black girls with less than plump butts, me being one of them. NO ONE is one thing, and most definately NO RACE is one things. Please diversify your life.

I completely agree with Truly. Of course there are a few questions that are genuinely for informational purposes. But I'm more referring to the plethera of bigot-based questions meant to generallize the black race.

I think that people should be able to as these questions if (big if) they are sincerely seeking information. What is wrong with wanting to learn more about another race. On this forum, one could ask a question that they wouldn't dare ask a black coworker. I think that learning about other cultures is great because we all have differences. People are naturally curious about things that they don't know about. Many people get their information from unreliable sources such as sitcoms, movies, or music. If I can clear up misconceptions, great! However, people who ask questions to just make fun of people...that's just immature.

People are just ignorant. Stupidity and ingnorance are two different things and these people are ignorant.
Their ignorance leads them to ask those questions and say those things. Not curiosity!
You don't see Black people asking questions like that. It's ridiculous that there are still so many ignorant people in the world with all of the advances that have been made.
It's a shame. People just shouldn't be looked upon and treated that way.
And my gums aren't black either!!

Honestly, being from a small town, some white people aren't familiar with the black race and use this as a cowardly was to find out things about them instead of making friends or alliances with a black person.
I have a bi racial daughter, and white people ask me stuff about black people all the time just because they think it's safe because I am white? So really it is just curiosity, just worded in an immature matter.

well i agree those are ignorant questions, but it's only through answering those questions and educating people that you can change opinions.
And I don't think those examples you gave are big stereotypes. black people often do have darker gums, it's because gums are a part of your skin, so if you are dark-skinned, your gums would most likely be dark.
Black people on average do have larger behinds and that is because it has been scientifically proven that they have more fat deposits in the area than do white people. And as a white woman, let me tell you, I would take extra fat deposits in my *** instead of my stomach any day! Besides that seems to be the new trend now, it used to be everyone wanted bigger boobs, not they all want bigger butts.
And I'd also like to say after reading some other people's answers, that just because someone has an ignorant question about black people like "what does their hair feel like" , that doesn't make the person a racist! It has nothing to do with racism. That person is not saying they think they are better than black people or that they don't like black people, they just have a silly question.
I guess I need to repeat myself! I didn't say ALL black people have black gums, I said often black people have darker gums [than white people] . This is not a racist statement in anyway. It is also often true of other dark skinned ethnic groups like East Indian people. I don't care what colour anyones gums are, i don't think my gums are better than yours! so it is not a racist statement! Also, again, I did not say ALL black people have bigger behinds, i said on average they have bigger behinds than white people.

I've often wondered the same thing. Its like they base all of their opinions off of something they heard 50 Cent say or off of something they saw on MTV. Yahoo definitely helps me to realize just how much racism is still going on these days.
What really gets me is all of the topics like "why is it okay for black people to have BET, Miss Black America, the United ***** College Fund, etc... but if white people were to have a United White College Fund, they would be considered racist?". Thats what really gets me. They can have all the white stuff in the world. It wouldn't bother me. Besides, they kinda already do. But, they want to have a fit because Black people do things to uplift themselves and their people. Its truly ridiculous! On one hand, they think all black people are criminals and whores, but if its something to help uplift them, then its racist and its a problem. I think they just need to worry about their damn selves.

they are small minded and insecure and so they dump on others rather than face their own inadequacies. the easiest target for these people are anyone who is different from them and skin tone is visually obvious. I wonder how long until they victimise some for the colour of their eyes or hair. it is just pathetic.p.s. I am white and sunbathe to try and get a tan, so what does that make me .

Because they are asking the questions that other people have always wanted to ask. It's cool with me..."black gums" LOL If you saw me you wouldnt know I was black unless I came out and told you....lol They should keep on asking so they can be better informed. You cant waist your time being mad at that...

it don't bother them you see whites spend lots of time and effort tying to be black, they need to start off by being slaves and actually caring for black peoples homes and children and land cook ,clean ,wash and so on then they will automatically get tanned and they will be on their way to acting black and stop asking those type questions they are trying to learn to be black and they can't figure out why they booty don't grow right its because their forefathers sat on their *** while black took the slack
