It is very normal. A full baby is a healthy baby. It is a proven fact that babies that eat are more healthy then those that do not eat. There immune system builds up and are less likely to get sick and catch colds from there parents. You keep feeding your baby, the weight will come off when she starts to walk.
Baby food is full of nutrition and vitamins.
If you were talking about feeding your baby fried chicken, french fries. mashed potatoes. things like that than I would say slow her down, but baby food is fine and let her eat what she wants.

Babies will only eat when they are hungry. Disregard the comment about not feeding her until she's 6 months old. Every baby is different but you should discuss with your pediatrician. My little baby detests cereal but loves fruit and veggies. He's 7 mos old and he only eats a fruit or a veggie twice a day and some days he eats the whole thing, some days he doesn't. Some days he takes 30 ounces of formula and other days up to 42. He's not fat at all. Don't worry....again, babies only eat when they are hungry.

I dont think a half jar is to much at all. My son is a really big eater and I started spoon feeding him a little bit of cereal at a month and baby food at 3 months but fruit was one of the first things I gave him. I'd make him his cereal and add a jar of stage one bananas or applesauce to it. At 5 months he was getting a veggie and a fruit for lunch and dinner plus his formula. If your really worried about talk to her doctor

First of all.......the Pediatric Society recommends that you DO NOT feed your babies til they are at least 6 months old....
they do not have the proper matured digestive system to handle solid food.....they only need breastmilk and/or formula....
you have to feed this kid for the rest of your life ........so what's the rush?
you are just putting your child at a higher risk for allergies starting food so young....
And you don't OVER FEED your child........they will eat anythign you put in their mouths....so he'll grow up to be obese as well

Age: Birth to 4 months------------
Feeding behavior
• Rooting reflex helps your baby turn toward a nipple to find nourishment
What to feed
• Breast milk or formula ONLY •
Your baby's digestive tract is still developing, which is why solid food is off limits for now.
From 4-6 months------------
Signs of readiness for solid food
Your baby probably won't do all these things — they're just clues to watch for.
• Can hold head up
• Sits well in highchair
• Makes chewing motions
• Shows significant weight gain (birth weight has doubled)
• Shows interest in food
• Can close mouth around a spoon
• Can move food from front to back of mouth
• Can move tongue back and forth, but is losing tendency to push food out with tongue
• Seems hungry after 8 to 10 feedings of breast milk or 40 oz. of formula in a day
• Is teething
What to feed
• Breast milk or formula, PLUS
• Semi-liquid iron-fortified rice cereal, THEN
• Other grain cereals like oats or barley

Whoa!! Slow down Mamma! Your baby is far too young to be eating that amount/type of solids! The AAP reccommends after 6mo to begin, and then it is ONLY a beginning, meaning complimenting breast/bottle with solids here and there. At the rate your going you are putting your babe at increased risk of allergies and obesity later in life. Your baby's digestive track is very immature still, you really should slow down.
I'm sure that's not what you wanted to hear, but I see way too many Mommas here that start solids too early, what the heck is the big rush?!!

I started out new foods with a half jar. Once you are cleared on one food, you can mix feeding one half of that with half of the new one for 1 jar. These little garbage disposals can eat more than we think.
You aren't over-feeding.
There are actual charts that the doctor's office can give you from Gerber for more direction.
Also, check the Gerber website for feeding tips.

My girl was eating one jar of stage 1 foods per meal at that age. Keep it up. Start some fruits now and i'm sure she'll have a blast!
Sweet Potatoes & Apples mixed was my girls favorite!

You're actually not supposed to start them on solids untll they're 6 mo. old. When I was nannying, the 7 month old would eat half a baby jar per sitting. I fed him 'till he turned his face away when I gave him the spoon.

No, its not to much. She will let you know when she is full. Just a little something to consider: when trying new foods, fruit, etc., don't buy mixed veggies or fruits. Try them one at a time in case she is allergic to one of them you will know which one it was.It would be ok to try fruits now. Keep up the good work mom.=)

any pediatrician will tell you that all babies are different, and they all have different needs. some will be picky eaters, and others will be bottomless pits. my advice: feed her until she's not interested in eating anymore.
