I guess sex is a "state of mind" now. Welcome to the new age. Don't dare speak out against it. We will throw you in jail.

Nope, you've got it backwards. The surgery is to bring the plumbing into line with one's person perception or orientation. The person believing he should be a she, does not change sex by surgery because she already is a she inside, supposedly.
True there is some substantial dissatisfaction afterwards by many, but by no means all, but then we rarely are completely satisfied anyway. As the old saying goes, "You wouldn't be happy if I hung you with a new rope."
In my case, I have no interest in men, if I were to get a sex change, that would make me a lesbian--a pretty rediculous way to meet girls, don't you think? Gender dyphoria is a recognized psychological condition, so if you are saying these people are nuts, you are right. But if you had a person who insisted that everytime he looked in the mirror his hair moved like worms, what you recommend? Let's talk about it (that is part of the transgender process), let's see some medical examinations (that is part of the transgender process), let's give this some time to see if it changes or goes away (that is part of the transgender process, 3 months before hormones, 12-24 months living and working in the perceived gender role), and then let's shave your head (that is, in the transgender case, where you cut off the 'outie' and make an 'innie'). If properly followed, a transgendered person has seen a shrink more often than a 'normal' person like you or me and has seen a medical doctor (usually an endocrinologist) more often than you or me, so what more do you want?

Whoa, you are really ignorant. Transgender surgey is not "plastic surgery" or performed by a plastic surgeon. It's done by someone who specializes in surgery of the genito-urinary organs. Plastic surgeons do reconstruction and feminization surgery in male to females. And Endocrinologists do the hormone changes.
Transgenders aren't just changing their outward appearance. They change basic body functions.

Transgendered individuals are not homosexuals, generally speaking. That said, I think you are correct in having reservations about the disorder.

It's about the mind as much as the body. Some people are born in the wrong body... born as male but feel female, or vice versa. Getting the surgery, going on hormones, it all helps them be who they feel they naturally are.
Hope that helps! Peace!
Spiritwalker got it wrong, you say it's "ADAM and STEVE"... and then you pick your nose.
Hey San dee... a dude comes here spouting intolerance crap and I can't make a nose picking joke? Please.

The Doctors can change everything to the other sex, except for your genes. Those are IMPOSSIBLE to change. If you are a male, your genes will always be male. If you are a female, then your genes will always be female, even if you undergo every surgical procedure known to man, your genes will never change.

Your question hurts, just so you know. Being Transgendered has nothing to do with sexual orientation. There are straight people who go through it - ending up gay. There are gay people who go through it and end up straight, like my wife who will eventually be my husband. A female friend of mine who went through it and is now married to another just like him, both born female both now male. Being transgendered has to do with what gender you identify with, not with what gender you are attracted to.

Excuse me, your ignorance is showing. There is a lot more involved in a sex change than just a little plastic surgery---hormone therapy, counselling, etc. Don't speak about things you know so little about--it reflects badly on you, not on the people you think you're criticizing.

your a freakin idiot. being gay and hating others like you is pretty sad. transsexuals are born in the wrong body their mind is already in this case female and having surgery to correct the body is a way of helping them become who they are.
they are already female. just like you are already a freaking moron.
I BELIEVE IT AND I'M GETTING SURGERY WITH IN THE YEAR COMING UP. I WILL FINALLY HAVE A BODY THAT MATCHES MY MIND AND HOW I FEEL
