I belive they usually last 10-15 years but if its leaking you probably should have it replaced

I say if it's leaking do it now before it creates a lot of problems. Hot water heaters can cause massavie destruction

I would say that when it starts leaking you need a new tank.

The average lifespan of hotwater tanks is about 10 years so I'd get a new one.

time to do it now. when you have confirmed it is already leaking. don't wait.
