Nope, it took me two days after my water started leaking to actually go into labor and even then I didn't have contractions for a fairly long period of time after that. Good luck, but if you are leaking you need to get to the hospital to minimize risk of infection. Congrats!

Not necessarily. I know with my oldest mine started leaking and I wasn't feeling any contractions. I actually didn't start having any at all with either of my kids until the bag was totally ruptured and then it was still another 3-4 hrs befor I felt them. I know I was having them (b/c the monitors showed them) but I didn't feel them...even the strong ones.

No. When the water bag leaks there is amniotic fluid coming from it and you do not feel contractions with it.

Not necessarily - I never got contractions with my water breaking. I still had to be induced. You should go see your doctor. They have a 10 second test that will tell you if you broke your water.

No. My water broke at 6am and my contractions didn't begin until that evening--and only because they induced me!

P.S.--I don't know about your doctor/midwife, but when I called to tell them my water just broke, they told me to try to catch some in a maxi pad or towel and bring it to the hospital. I guess they want to test it to be 100% sure it's the amniotic fluid.

Definitely. That's what triggers the labor to begin.
Good luck. You will have a baby within the next 12 to 24 hours.
