Probably your doctor thinks that your wife's thyroid is over functioning. Thats why it is utilising her body energy store and making her feel week. High metablic rate is leading to increase in body temperature. This is brought down by the body by producing sweat. Get blood test done and everything will be clear. She may be started on anti thyroid drugs.

First off, don't always assume it's a thyroid condition. Depending on when she's having this problems, it could be diabetes or menopause (if she's 40 or more yrs old). Is she weak before or after meals? Constantly thirsty? Using the restroom more often? I'm a diabetic & that's how my problems began. Good luck!

I had an undiagnosed thryroid disease for many years. A new doctor noted all of my symptoms and tested my levels 3x a week for two weeks my disease shows normal levels some days and high levels the next. I had hair loss, dry skin, had hives, tired all the time, mood swings, weight gain, insomnia, sweats,or inability to get warm, thin nails, puffy joints. It is an auto immune disease so the symptoms mimic other autoimmune diseases. Get her to a good doctor who listens and see what happens.

Yes, sounds like the suspect hyperthyroid since she is sweating. They check it by a blood test and it is fairly easy to treat usually with meds.
