White Blood Cells build immunity to colds and other little critters we are "exposed" to. Once we are infected the white blood cell analyze and make an attack plan. Once they learn a particular Cold Virus you will be immune and never have that again. With the cold virus there like hundreds, so, that why we keep getting colds, but, it not always the same Virus. So, with all this said; It best he be exposed at a young age as when he get older he be less prone to different aliments. ;-)

Well, you can make yourself and your son crazy. Or you can remember that anytime you go out into the world you are going to be around someone who is sick...if you eat right, get plenty of rest and exercise you stand a better chance at staying healthy.

Kids pass stuff around all the time. I have three and someone is always coming home with something that gets passed around the house...it is a real pain, but short of keeping them home 24/7 there isn't anything I can do about it. And everyone gets through it okay.

Hand sanitizer isn't the answer either...it is great once in a while, but nothing replaces good old fashioned soap and hot water. Relax, there are far worse things to be worried about than the cold from the kid at the next desk...like the weirdo on the Internet....lol Best of luck....

Being concerned about your child's well being is not wrong. We all are. One way to handle it is to make sure they are aware of the dangers and to teach them to be careful. By washing their hands after being in the bathroom and before they eat will decrease a chance of them getting much of the passed on bacteria they come in contact with when they are at school. As a parent you will always worry but you can find some comfort in knowing that you have taught you children ways to fend for themselves.

Don't be overly worried. You can teach your son to be a frequent hand washer. Get him a pocket- sized Purell. Teach him to keep his hands away from his face, particularly eyes, nose and mouth. He must get in the habit of always washing his hands after using the bathroom. He must keep his distance from kids who are obviously ill. Beyond that, if he eats a balanced diet and gets a good night's sleep each night, there's not much more that can be done.

His chances of getting sick would be almost same as just going out shopping or any activity or from you as parents at home that carry any type of germs also.If he gets sick, treat him as soon as you recognize what illness he has and if need be take to your family Doctor. There are germs everywhere...Not in the class room. If over cautious it will put stress on you and your son.Be there when he needs you.

Unfortunately, young children don't understand personal hygiene very well. When one student gets sick, the entire class gets sick. But, the vast majority of times it is just a mild case of the flu. Just make sure he is up to date with his vaccinations which includes influenza (flu) vaccination (in fact, now is a good time to get it) Try to teach him some personal hygiene (e.g. handwashing). Remember, children getting sick is normal. It will help them build up their immune system.

Yes, you should always be concerned about your sons well being, but don't become obsessed. Just make sure that your son has a healthy diet, and teach him great hygene(washing his hands) and he will be okay. That's all you can do, I know the feeling of powerlessness once you send your children off to school, but its life.

no reason to be worried. It is important fro him to get sick so his immune system can build up for the future. Without that he may later in life get a childs infection and then they are really dangerous. Like mumps or measles.

Its all a part of him developing a strong immune system. If he is never exposed to sicknesses, and flus, colds, viruses... He will not develop an immune system to ward of bad stuff as he grows. Believe it or not, exposure to sickness is a good thing when it comes to child development.
