This is mostly a question of budget but the 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 6100 is a very good one and fully compatible with major game softwares.
All I can say is that most gamers would appreciate their graphics card being replaced by this one!

Yea try to find a good deal first on the 7500 card becasue thats really better...If not the 6100 will do... matters what kind of computer you have... if you got a gaming computer with tons of memory then get the 7500 card if an old computr like 3 years or older get the 6100 casue maybe the old computers can't take the graphicz...

Having been in the computer trade since 1991 I can highly recommend you concentrate on spending money on main memory i.e. DDR2 RAm at least 1gig and a graphics card that can push pixels around at a high clock speed. These are the two aspects I believe you should put to your computer supplier. Don't buy a PC with integrated graphics. You need a separate PCI graphics card.
The processor and hard drive speed are secondary considerations if money is a squeeze.

To be honest, if your son would be playing 3D video games you should probably better go for a higher graphics card than NVIDIA 6100.
I recently spent 100$ US on a NVIDIA 9200 and it works better than ever. Graphics are very decent and there is no lags during gameplay.

the fact that its a 256 MB graphics card alone is good, but if the kid is going to be playing games that is like beyond 3D graphics or something it perfectly fine.
