A number of ways to do this. If you suspect a leak. Find a clean spot on your drive way and park the car for a few hours. When you move the car, if you see oil you have a leak. If it is not a major leak there is a leak detection kit that you can purchase. you add a florescent additive to the oil and drive the car for about 2 hours. use the light that came with the kit and shine it on the motor. anything the glows is oil.

Park the car in the garage overnight. Pull car out of garage. If there's oil on the floor of the garage the next day...you're leaking oil.
Full proof test.

When you pull away in the morning, check the pavement, it should have an oil spot if you are leaking oil, if not, I wouldn't worry about it.

Pull onto a clean driveway and let it sit for the night. In the morning look under for oil spots.

Park on a clean piece of your driveway, and check the next morning for dribble spots. If you must park in the street, try for a cleaner spot and watch for shiny dribble spots.
Hopefully, they aren't big dribble spots, usually that means a repair headache.
