Basically Yahoo allows you to answer a certain number of questions per 24 hour period. As you submit answers, you gain points. If you are chosen to have the best answer, you gain even more points. The points basically just tell people who has answered the most questions with the highest best answer rate. The points score does not necessarily mean that the person with the most points is the smartest.....just means they have a lot of time to answer a lot of questions lol. Hope this helps!

I don't do this 4 the points.
I genuinely want 2 help people & with families living miles apart, sometimes if I can offer advice that makes sense, I'm happy.

Points can get U badges etc, but so far I just never find the time 2 download them. 2 busy answering questions!
If it helps keep U company while U look after UR Grandmother & gives U a laugh or some good advice, don't worry 2 much about points, huh?
:)

Hey, I am relatively new to the yahoo questions and answers thingy, too. But, I do know it costs you points to ASK and you gain points by ANSWERING. Then, as you have learned, you gain MORE points by having the BEST ANSWER. I am not sure about the levels, as I am on LEVEL ONE, as well, and the thing about the points is, I guess, just to have fun with it. Like you can't turn 'em in for cash or anything! But, as you have experienced- it is exciting to get THE BEST ANSWER and it is also a way to get and give feedback to others on such a variety of things and topics. By the way- YOU DO HAVE A LIFE! Right now, you are being generous and kind enough to take care of your Grandma. Having a computer and using it to explore, learn, make friends, and vent WILL keep you from losing your sanity. It is hard to take care of someone who is ill. I wish you the best of luck with it and hey- maybe you could check out the yahoo 360 site, create a profile, vent in blogs, and make on-line friends! Take care of YOURSELF, too!

This Yahoo questions is easy. You just pick the questions you REALLY know the answer to and hoping the person who asked the question give you 10 points. The more best answers you have, you move on to the next level. The BEST answers are usually the ones that you can relate to personally. One of my best answers was about naming the worst experience in my life. I answered it personally & I received 10 points. for the best answer from the others who answered this question. Don't pick the homework help. They will never give you any points on those. Hope that helps. Good luck going to the next level.

The more questions you answer, the more possible you will get chosen as best answer. The more best answers you get, the faster you will gain points... and the sooner you will get to the next level.

1 point for logging on
2 points for answering
10points for best answer
5 points to ask..I think

I try to answer as many as possible and ask as few as possible... all these silly questions out there... what a waste of points.

I try to answer questions in catagories that interest me... or, ones that I come up with funny answers for (when appropriate)... Have fun.. I look at this as an oppurtunity to either help people or make them smile.

I don't know what it is about getting chosen as best answer... it's like a rush... like you won something,... but you really didn't. I guess it just means that you really touched someone.

They aren't easy to find, but here's a couple links that will help you hopefully.

The first one is a general link that has categories you can click on to get more help and detail about something.

The other is a Yahoo Answers forum where you can post questions just like the one you just asked.

I found these as two tiny link on the Home Page\Yahoo Products link down the left side last entry, and they are under "Related LInks".

Hope this helps you.

Took me about a month to get to level 3. I like it cuz it breaks up the day a bit and helps me be more focused. Sounds weird but a little break now & then helps me work better. (I guess I have no life either!) The higher the level, the more questions you can ask & answer. It tells you a little about that on your profile page (My Q&A). Have fun!

the somewhat some questions confer with political events, in-intensity comments approximately somewhat some issues and only ordinary questions that could desire to be asked on Yahoo! solutions; a internet site on the internet. despite if, the somewhat some questions are only ludicrous, and confer with issues like 'So how do u noe a thank you to place ur make up on like properlyszz?' and a few questions are too own and only too deep to be published at here. Questions that easily desires professional help, and not the help of strangers. it somewhat is my perspective. :)

I am wondering the same thing. I know it is habit forming. I enjoy it for passing time as well. I think that is the main reason to it all. I have named my dog by another's answer and also found idea for losing weight. It is a way to get answers to personal questions from people who have no inside influence on your life.

you get points which add up to nothing, and worth nothing, but if you answer a question you get 2 points, and if your answer is selected as best they give you 10 points,

still cost 4.50 for a Starbucks coffee even if you got a million points,

but alot of people have fun answering,
