That can go either way really. Caffeine is known to boost the metabolism, thus boosting the heart rate. It is also a natural diaretic, so if you ever need a good "colon cleansing" you could drink coffee to get a natural B.M. without cramping. So it has it's good and bad points, as do most all food and drink.

If you have a family history of heart disease, or if you are a smoker, you are at high risk for heart disease and should limit your caffeine intake. Also, this is so for high blood pressure patients.

Caffeine is a stimulant , so if you already have been diagnosed with Cardio-vascular problems, this could exacerbate your condition. However, one cup of organic coffee per day has been shown to have health benefits. Heart conditions occur when the body is not functioning correctly at a cellular level. Caffeine puts more adrenaline into the system. This makes the heart (and everything else) think there's an emergency. It messes up the autonomic nervous system, which makes the heart palpitate. No definitive research on whether it causes heart attacks (I don't think), but it certainly doesn't help!

caffeine in excess amounts can stimulate the heart too much. But in small quantities it will not harm the heart. If the doctor orders you not to have caffeine in your diet obey him!!!!
