Most solids expand and contract everyday because of temperature.
If your refering to stalgtites and stalgmites, it depends on the source of the water, the concentration of the solute and the rate of evaporation

Rocks don't expand, they break down and get smaller. Some igneous rocks exfoliate, and that is a little like expanding, but then they shed the outer layers and so they really don;t expand.

I'd like to know where you got this from, because there is some wierd Creationist theory that rocks grow. They don't, of course. They erode.

Certain rocks are formed from sedimentation, such as chalk and limestone. I'm not sure if there is a set rate, it would depend on a number of factors (temperature, pH etc)

they shrink when exposed to the elements-wind, sand, dirt and water wear them down=D
