May as well ask is feeling emotions good or bad. Since i cannot imagine living without emotions, my answer must be a resounding - YES - crying is good, even when you are feeling extremely bad.
May also ask, is feeling touch sensations or any physical stimulus good or bad. If we bash our thumb with a hammer, it hurts like the dickens and we may cry a lot; on the other hand, if we reach the highest passion of lovemaking with our beloved, we may feel such rapture and bliss that we cry.
Noted that biologists and psychologists may invest all manner of effort into scientific investigation of crying; I only say that if you have ever had a good cry for whatever reason, then you already know the answer to your question is always yes.

In my own understanding
Crying is a way to relief ur life and inside body from pressure.
If someone dies, you cry its better because it goes out and not sit all day stressed which might lead to heart problems.
If you have a problem in life, that might lead to anger, if it leads to crying before u will be more calm which gives your brain at least few moments to think before its too late.
If u miss someone , better crying that ripping your self up trying to reach him !

crying is very good. It is a release for pent up emotions. It helps you to deal and cope with issues. If you do not cry occasionally, your problems and losses just eat at you. I always feel better after crying.

like any other thing, phenomena, person etc, crying cant be just good or bad. reality lies beyond any pair of such simple pair of opposites :)
crying can bring benefits, or can bring disatvantages, but everything depends of type of person, type of event, type of causes of crying.
when my brother died, i had short moments of crying, but i realised, that an automatic ventilating cry could last only for aproximately 2 minutes. i mean the episodes of crying, where you dont have to think very much, the body automatically releases some presure. but, after two minutes, it could all end. but it doesent end. why? after 2 minutes, it isnt fresh anymore, it somehow shifts from automatic to manual (like cars) :). its the time when we come into play with our thinking. we realise that the cry episode could end, bud we come, make an intervention giving, and repeating ourselves further motives for our suffering.
well, that REPETITION, that CHAT that we have with ourself isnt healthy, and doesnt bring much benefit.
so, as conclusion, no problem with the very normal process of presure release-crying-the problem comes with the "MC" that tells the LYRICS on the beats and rythms of crying. only the interpretations, dialogue with ourself could transform it into something unhealthy, where the human being avoids searching for solutions, he only stays still, makes funny noises, and writes a composition without a happy ending.
in reality everything bad, every kind of loss, suffering could be used to develop further. wasting such an opportunity wouldnt be very inteligent. SOLUTIONS are more important then the GRAVITY of the problem.
P.S FEELING BETTER isnt the same with GETTING BETTER

not always - sometimes you can cry bitter tears which hurt your eyes a little. The chemistry of tears changes depending on why you needed to cry
