Does it vary by the company? Is there any laws concerning this? We get ten minutes every 4 hrs, but my friend gets 15???

Companies policies for lunches and breaks vary, but the norm for an eight hour shift is two 15 minute breaks and a half hour paid lunch. There are no laws that I'm aware of regarding break times, but you can air this problem with some co-workers and respectfully confront your boss with it.

If it's manufacturing, OSHA requires 15 minutes every 4 hours and half an hour if the day goes over 6 hours or 2 half hours if it goes over 10 hours.

So:
Someone on an 8 hour shift gets 2 15's and a 30
Someone on a 12 hour shift gets 3 15's and 2 30's

If you don't work in manufacturing, it's set by the employer.

Most manufacturing companies grant 15 minutes. State law states 10 minutes every 2 hours s your getting ripped.

I don't know what the regs are in each state, but in GA, we got 30 minutes for lunch and two fifteen minute breaks in an 8 hour day.
