That's definitely an old wives tale. I craved all kinds of things (salty food included) in BOTH of my pregnancies. I have two girls.

Craving Salty Foods Means

If you crave salty foods, you have a 50 percent chance of having a girl.

Also, if you crave salty foods, you have a 50 percent chance of having a boy. These are just silly old wives tales and mean nothing.

But if I was you, I would limit my intake of salty foods since it can cause water retention and sometimes pregnancy-induced hypertenstion (high blood pressure) and a very dangerous condition known as preeclampsia. So watch that salt intake.

Also, try to eat a banana and drink a big glass of Orange Juice every day. They have important nutrients for the baby AND the potassium they provide will help rid your body of excess sodium.

I actually heard it is the other way around. When you crave salty food you are having a girl and sweet for boy. I don't believe any of those wivestales becaues I desperately need sweet and having a girl. Actually according to most of them I should be having a boy!

No. Anything like that is a myth, an old wives tale. Nothing can predict the sex of the child. Statisticaly it is easier to have a girl than a boy because Boys are altered females.
We all start out as XY (female) and some turn into XX (male) chromosomes.
Ask your doctor during an ultrasound what they think the sex is .

Ha, I ate nothing but popcorn and potato chips with my first who is now almost six and SHE is a pill!

But on the other hand with the two after her I wanted sweet stuff and I had two more girls.

So, I don't know what to think, I want salty stuff with this one but I'm not holding my breath for a boy ;)

Good luck!

ummm....that's a new one on me. i've never heard of that. i know you crave certain foods when you're pregnant period but i don't think just because you crave salt it means you're having a boy. i've heard that sometimes you can determine what the sex of the baby is by how high or low you are carrying it. like if you're carrying high you're gonna have a boy but if you're carrying low you're gonna have a girl. i'm carrying high and just so happen to be having a boy but the only way you're going to really know for sure is when you go in for you're ultrasound. don't worry, it's not as far away as you think. i know. it drove me crazy because i wanted to know what i was having sooooooo bad. luckily i didn't find out i was even pregnant until i was 3 months so i only had a one month wait to find out the gender of my baby. lol. i was hoping for a boy soooooo bad and so was the rest of my family and that's exactly what i'm having. now i only have about 5 1/2 more weeks till his due date! yay!
