Actually he's a carnivore. How else do you account for his HUGE SIZE. Major doses of protein.

I see him eating bird seed a lot. At least, that's what he's sometimes doing when it's time to play Journey to Ernie. Maybe I watch Sesame Street too much.

Well, in the final episode of Sesame Street, he eats Oscar's friend wormy, shortly before he infects everyone on Sesame Street with Bird Flu when they cook him and eat him for Thanksgiving dinner. I think they may have sprinkled him with sesame seeds before baking, though.
