Your introduction plays a major role in setting the context and argument of what is to follow: the body paragraph expounds on what you have presented in the 1st paragraph, and the conclusion sums it up as well as showing the significance of what you're arguing. For starters, write down what your essay is about. Like, love plays a central issue Washington Square, A Raisin in the Sun, and Romeo & Juliet (I haven't actually read Washington or Raisin). The next step can be divided into two choices (for simplicity's sake)** 1) if you want to show the literary devices or rhetorical strategies all those authors use in order to show the theme of "love": In the transition part of the introduction, write down the respective theme for which you will prove. Then state (directly, or indirectly) the thesis: as long as you have a thesis that is visible in the essay, it does not necessarily have to reside on the introductory paragraph (unless your teacher says it has to be) 2) if you want to prove or show a certain theme of love in all those literary works solely through plot: Write down or mention the theme in the transition part. You'll need to write examples or evidence from the plot of the three literary works. Writing an introduction is...well, introducing what you're going to show to the reader for the next 30, 40, 50, etc. lines. Assume the reader does not know what your essay is going to be about (he/she does not even know which novels or plays you're writing about). The title sets the topic down, and the introduction sets the mood and shows the thesis of what follows. You don't necessarily have to dazzle your reader; just lay down the foundations of the essay and you'll be fine.

Depending on what the project is about.... and introduction to a report such as, my first job, the introduction should give the reader a glimpse of the past and a hint of what to come... but try not to throw what are talking about out there in the first paragraph!
Hope it helps!

What ever is your project which is practical and profitable it has a finished product to sell.
Write it out first.( brief summary)
Introduction will be as to how you thought about this project, who has guided you,how long it took to write the project, who sponsored the project, how it helps the user, how long it will take for your project to be on production.Make it just readable.
End it with calling for any improvements

introductions tell the reader what you are going to do in the project. sometimes it is easier to write the introduction at the end but i find it helps me get my brain in gear for the essay/project. its basically explaining your essay/project plan in words

say for example you want to write an essay on the differences between two the labour party and the conservative party.
you start off with:

"This essay will attempt to asses the differences and similarities between the Labour party and the conservative party"

then you say how your going to do that.

"In order to do this we will look at the parties offical veiws on trade, taxation, the european union, social institutions, privatisation but firstly we shall discuss the core values of the parties. finally we will look at the other political parties, namely; the green party the liberal democrats, the BNP" etc. etc.

Dont say what you have concluded from the essay here, the introduction doesnt contain any answers, just set-up. leave all the summing up for the conclusion at the end.

If your study is based around any kind of experiment or paticipant research / observations of your own, you might want to look for books detailing the methodology of works in your chosen subject. here im particularly thinking of psychology and sociology. in these subjects you often write a short summary of the entire project incluing your final results, which is placed at the beginning before the introduction. This is called an 'abstract'. your uni library will have loads of these of cd rom for you to look through if you get stuck.

introductions to projects in these areas are often quite different from your regular essay introductions. in these subjects you have to look at the various studies that promted you to continue work in the feild, like if your project is about (in psychology) short term memory then you'd look at a few studies on memory that are kind of like your own, and say why you want to study the thing your studying. then your reader what you want to do and how your going to explain it.

hope this helps :)
