Not to go outside with your hair wet! It was a big deal to my mom and she could never explain what would happen to me if I did.
We also were told never, ever put your shoes on a table for any reason. That was a bad luck thing, I think.

Don't walk down to the end of our road where there was a railroad trestle. That's where the junkies hung out.

never ever ask for something when you go visiting, ie, if you are visiting your neighbors just a social outing, and someone says "erika, would you like a piece of cake? i just baked it!" for some unknown reason (i think my mom thought they were just being nice but didnt really want to be bothered) it was taboo for us to say "yes please! 2 pieces and make um' thick!!" we had to wait for the person to have shove it down our throats b4 we could accept it! so we would always say "no thank you" but look super sad so they would have to force it on us! "please i insist! eat the cake eat the caaaake!" LOL!!!

Cross the street without looking both ways.

Or talk to strangers.
