When was it decided and why?

that marriage had to be just one woman and one man. What if my appetites for relationships extend to more than one woman, why sholdn't I have two or three (provided everyone involved is agreeable) Financially it makes more sense (one could stay home with children while the other worked if she wanted to). What are your thoughts, be nice please.

I don't know what the real origins of the nuclear family are... I'm sure there are different social, evolutionary, historical and philosophical explanations. There are plenty of cultures in the world that practice poligamy, so monogamy is not the only possible solution. From the practical standpoint, I agree that it would be so much easier if I wasn't the only one stuck with taking care of the house and the kids. However, one can't easily disregard the rules of society and the legal implications.

P.S. BTW, contrary to some women here, I would NEVER want to have more than one husband! I work my bu** off taking care of just one. I can't imagine doing twice as much cooking, cleaning, AND having to put out twice as often. This would just be insane.

I would like to ask you this! Would you like it if a woman married not only you, but tons of other men as well, and all of you men that are married to this woman was taking turns being with her because you are on a time clock? Why don't you follow the bible? It is a sin! And anyway whom ever is willing to share their wife/husband with another person is completely sick, disgusting, and it is totally disrespectful not only to the others but also to themselves as well! I think that you should just stay single or go to the Middle East where all of the other disrespecting @ss holes towards women are at!

You and the polygamists have it all wrong. It should be one wife and two husbands. That way they can work their butts off providing for the home. Why is it that women should have to put up with only one man, and men think they get the option of more than one woman? Honesty you don't want a ton of kids and just think, you'd have someone to watch sports with.

Well ,I can't handle more than one cause he drives me up the wall but if you can find 3 or4 that will go with your plan good luck to you cause I'm a woman & I know that we are a handful by ourselves not including 2 others. Sounds like maybe being a pimp would be better for you with less hastle on your end & more money.

I think if the women are agreeable like you stated it's fine. It's when you do it behind people's back that it's a problem. Move to Utah. I think it's legal there in some counties.

convert to the muslim faith if you want multiple wives.
In the US the law is to have only 1 wife 1 husband and you take vows under God to have only 1 spouse. that's why. you need to stay single and not married. marriage is not a game and something to be played with amongst multiple people.

Okay, I got that out of my system. No it's not okay. God created the man, then gave him the WOMAN........NOT a HAREM. HE GAVE THE MAN ONE WOMAN. So......if my creator and yours who knows us inside and out created and provided ALL of the needs of the first man.....and then gave him a woman.........
