It's not ich/ick which would be salt like white spots. The whiteness of the belly could just him losing his color. Or it could be Columnaris, or a fungus. (In the case of these it would look like mold, or fuz.) In any case the bloating is likely dropsy.
This a very serious illness. Remove the betta to a jar filled with tank water. Treat him with trisulfa*, and primafix.
*If you can't find trisulfa get a broad spectrum antibotic like marcyn plus.
PS- See the betta talk link from a prior poster for more info on dropsy.

Oh these people and their obcession with flushing.
1. 100% water change
2. Go and buy a fish antibiotic. I use tetracycline. It worked wonderfully for me. I bought mine at petsmart.
3. Treat your fish according to the directions on the label. The strength and amounts vary from manufacter to manufacter so follow the label.
4. Continue to treat him until he is well.
5. Do water changes as the box directs or every other day.
6. If he is in a community tank treat everyone
7. Harmless effects of the tetracycline: The water may turn pink/red/bright red and there may be bubbles on top of the water.
7. If he is not eating continue to offer him food everyday several times a day. Just don't leave any uneaten food in the aquarium.
8. Do not give up on him!
9. Since I cannot be sure of what he has this may or may not work. Good Luck and happy healing!

The pea treatment is good. Get some fresh peas, stick a toothpick in it to get some of the "meat" out, and feed it to the betta. They love it.
Keep in mind that the pea treatment will cloud the water, so keep the water changes frequent.
Be sure to add a tablespoon of aquarium salt per gallon of water.

If you're saying he looks bloated and his tale end goes up, then he might have the swim bladder problem. This can happen due to over feeding. Fish can't control their eating habits n always act hungry. Hence, we have to control them. When we overfeed, they overeat.. and just like humans, they get constipated and due to the toxins building up in their tiny bodies, their swim bladder gets damaged.

You can take a water sample to PetCo. They'll analyze it for free. They can also sell you drugs to put in the water to help your fish. Tell them what the symptoms are, take a picture and get your fish treated.
Betas can live up to 5 years, so if yours is younger than that, he should be treated so he gets better.

he doesn't have ich. ich is a parasite that causes like white dots to appear all over the fishes body. No I think your fish has a swim bladder disease. feed him a pea a day, this will help to get him back to normal. But I'm not completely sure if that's it, check out this website to be sure. http://www.bettatalk.com/betta_diseases.htm

go to a fish store and get either permafix or metafix. One of them is for bateria and the other is for viral- i always get them mixed up, you just have to read the bottle to see which one os for what. My ex is a fish expert and he uses that on both his freshwater and saltwater tanks when his fish get sick.

Are his scales sticking out? If so it's dropsy, it can be cured if caught early but most of the time its too late.
