There's no easy answer to this question. People have been struggling with this since long before we got here and will still be struggling with it after we're gone.
I believe it's because people can't deal with people who are different from them. They don't think they can relate and so lash out with fear and hatred. Doesn't make any sense to me, because we're all different. Whether you can see them or not, the differences are there. And that's a good thing. I jut wish others saw it that way

Firstly - I am simply answering your question using knowledge of the views of others, I in no way am in agreement to any of the below.
If you look at the animal kingdom lets say the monkeys you have different species. A gorilla to another gorilla (in zoological terms) would be classed as brothers. A gorilla to a chimp on the other hand would be classed as cousins. Some people would say that black and white people are cousins and therefore should not mate, have sex.
But if you are looking for advice for your friend I would say to her if her parents think it is that bad then does she really want to upset them that much for a little fling. If she really likes this guy so much that her parents feelings are not as important as going out with this guy then go for it. The thing is her parents brought her into the world so what they say should be VERY important to her - but racism to be fair is unacceptable. You cannot say an entire colour/culture are the same person. Its just shallow.

Well, i don't think that it is fair to say that people who go along with what your friends mother believes are ignorant. It's just her personal opinion. Just like some people prefer apples over bananas. You can say it's because of the way someone is raised, but at some point you have to form your own opinion, which your friend has done seeing that she goes against her mother's opinion. I personally dont think it is fair to mix races. Let's just say they have kids. Then there kids will have a hard time fitting in because they will be both races. They won't have a clear line drawn for them of who they are. I have seen it to many times. She should always go with her heart though, and her own beliefs.

I am a African woman, (No I'm not from Africa just because i am not an African American) i am from the Caribbean, and i would go with a white man, i think they are kind of freaky, but i nice white man, heck yeah! u need to tell your friend to tell her mother "god bless u mum" and to let anyone who has a problem with their relationship to kiss her ***, even black people, they may be jealous they can't catch the eyes of a black man, lord knows they are HOT!
anyway, trust me, I'm sure people who are not of the 21st century will have problems with interracial relationships, but WHO CARES! LET THEM CONTINUE LIVING IN THE PAST, AND SEE HOW FAR THAT WILL GET THEM! tell your friend i said good luck to her and her new boyfriend.

Cuz her mother is a racist, pure and simple. It's the "us vs them" mind set. Try convincing her mother to get to know the boy and his family - when she discovers that they are perfectly nice people and not very different from her, she might loosen up.
btw, all this nonsense about being pureblood or pedigreed or whatever is idiotic. What if everyone only married people who were genetically similar? You'd end up with a bunch of inbred idiots who all think and act alike - boring! Diversity makes for more interesting, stronger, healthier gene pool. Shouldn't love bring people together instead of keeping them apart??

A sin...hmmmm..What religion is that? Anyhow, people are sheep and tend to follow the norms of what their individual communities expects of them. With that being said, there are tons of people that aren't afraid to step outside the box.
I'm married to a man who is 1/2 caucasian and 1/2 vietnamese and we're eachother's best friends.
I think that people are just afraid of persecution and judgment from their peers, nothing more. Quite pansy azz if you ask me. I personally don't give a damn about what someone thinks of me.
Prost!

We cant change the way people belive in this day and time of being with another race, GOD made different races of people, byt he didnot entend for these races to breed together. Just like animals, cows and horse;s dont breed each other. We all should stay with our own race when it comes to dateing or sex or marring. Haveing friends is a hole lot of difference.

because they are idiots or their parents have made them ignorant....look, if your friend is still living with her mom then, tell her to just observe her mom's teachings and then she can apply them to do or not to do what ever she wants when she moves out. if under 18, try not to piss her mom off too much cause it will make things worse. its not a sin and its not her fault that her mom was taught wrong.
