Traditionalism doesn't mean "read the Bible or else...", or does it? Why do kooks like that have so many fans?

The creationists who came up with this idea are trying to inject science into a belief system, and they're called conservatives because they'd like to go back to the day when the religious viewpoint was universally accepted for the origins of man.
They have many fans because they are many people who are uncomfortable with modern society and pine for the "good old days."

The one thing that that the intelligent design folks and the evolutionist folks have is that both ideas are theory. the theory of evolution. The theory of intelligent design. Since you can't prove either, they are not considered facts.
It doesn't necessarily mean that intelligent design proponents are conservative. It also doesn't mean that evolutionsts are liberal.
