No offense, but the Palestinians are not an actual people because they are not a specific group of Arabs. The Jews were there first until they got kicked off their land by the Romans. They didn't even start calling themselves Palestinians until 1948 when Israel became a nation, therefore since they're not a people, should they have a nation? should be the question. As far as helping them is concerned, Israel has been trying to help them more than their fellow Arabs. If the Arab nations cared so much, then why don't they help more.

it is direct to Palestinians and their leaders and their politicians who should answer this question and the conditions under which they should want a country of their own. outsiders could give the following suggestions. a) recognize the existence of Israel b) promote the moral and economic well being of the Palestinian people -- poor and less poor. c)concentrate on well intentioned Palestinian government people -- honest, intelligent, open minded, peace full d) leave outside "all who promote hatreds, religious conflicts, arms and armaments etc."
the middle east could be an economic paradise with two minds -- Israel-is and Palestinians having the two sharpest minds for business deals. Do it man -- do it now before it is too late.

Get them to accept the situation as it is today and quit worrying about the way it was. If they would wake up tomorrow and the entire society thinks to themselves, "Let's stop wasting our time bombing Israel and trying to bring back the past and instead take stock of what we have and go to work to make our lives better...that is, build up the infrastructure in their society, create jobs, produce goods, increase trade with their neighbor states, build relationships with ALL their neighbors...I think this would do wonders for them as a society AND do wonders towards bringing peace to the area.
It's simplistic, I know, but it seems like anywhere you look where a people are fighting to bring back the way things were, whether 60 years ago, 100 years ago, or more...it just seems like it's a waste of time, effort, and LIVES. The world is always changing and people should always be looking and working forwards, not focused on what use to be and trying to get back there. It's like chasing your tail.
Just some thoughts here.

Good question. Many international relations experts believe that only the US has the ability to broker an agreement. They were getting close at the end of Clinton's term, then Bush abandoned all negotiations. Under pressure from Saudi Arabia and some of the Gulf States, Bush made a small move to get involved again 2 or 3 years ago with his "Roadmap" for peace. He announced this plan with a lot of fanfare, then again walked away.

Both sides claim that God told them, "This Land Is Yours" I don't think that politicians can solve this one. We will just have to wait for God to tell all, exactly what he meant. I hope that no one dies during the wait.
