Because they can take from it and make it their own opinion. The Bible has been so perverted by politicians in general, not just the republican party. Both sides have taken from it what they think will get them votes. The funny thing I can't understand is, they won't allow the 10 Commandments to be displayed in Court, yet you still have to swear an oath with your hand on the Bible. They want to take "under God" out of the Pledge, and "in God we Trust" off of our money, but they swear that marriage is sacred between only a man and a woman according to the Bible. It all comes down to votes...and popularity. They think if they take all the specific items about God out of the public eye, they will get more votes from Minorities.....and they think if they press on the issues of traditional "white" values, they will get more votes from the Majority. It's sad, if you ask me...

I think they are posing to uphold the Bible. Its just a ploy to get the votes of the naive. All the naive see is anti abortion and gay marriage issue and they blindly drop their vote. Its almost like they are robotic as soon as they hear Bible they cast their vote and cannot figure out that this is just a ploy.

Your question has absolutely zero merit. Why? I am a strong Republican.

Did I happen to mention that I am also an atheist, support a woman's right to choose and gay civil unions?

Stop pigeon holing an entire party because some are assholes.

Because they cling to the mistaken notion that our country was founded on god therefor they can shove their bibles down everyones throats.

Republicans know what the constitution is and fight to uphold it. It is the Democrats who ignore all constitutional provisions except the fifth amendment when tesitifying on their latest scandal.

OOO I want to give you a hug for asking that question! I think they forgot about a little thing called "Separation of Church and State."

Why did you make this mistake?

I.E., why did you think that Republicans DO mistake the one for the other?
