First thing, make sure that's what they are by going to the doctor. Basically they will need to tell you the degree of the injury. If they are merely fractured, the best treatment is taking it easy, lots of pain meds, and a good icepack on your ribs with a shirt in between. Good luck.

Doctors don't reccomend strapping up broken ribs any more. Like most people have said, rest and painkillers is about all you can do.

Painkillers, plenty of rest and deep breathing excercises, so as not to end up with a chest infection. Other than that theres not much else......

Having suffered this injury myself I have to say GO SEE A DOCTOR!
It can easily go wrong, and if a splinter pierces your lungs you are in for a world of pain and suffering you have never imagined....

So long as you havent punctured a lung - the hospital cant do anything anyway! its just a case of rest and lots of tablets!!
