I started being a landlord on a whim. That was 94 and I've still got the place. Lots of reading involved there. Including classes I chose to take on property mgmt.

I bought a restaurant with my now ex-husband, and the only experience we had was that we both knew how to cook. I kept that afloat for 9 years until the divorce and I moved.

It's totally possible, but it will take up your entire life. Don't expect vacations or weekends. But best of luck to you, it's a wonderful feeling to be self-employed.

You don't need the experience. You just need the money to hire someone who does. Find someone who is good at what business you want to open, and put them to work for you. Make sure you are willing to pay more than the competition, and make sure you are getting what you pay for. Remember, it takes money to make money.
