i had to wear stripy tights for a school play when i had to dress up as a robin. i was 5 years old and i'll never forget it!

the most embarrasing item i wore by choice was a big pair of brown granny knickers. i was at school (age 14) and talking to my friend behind me while kneeling on the chair oblivious to the fact that the whole class (including the teacher i had a major crush on) had a lovely view of my 'glamourous' knickers!!!! still makes me cringe today!

i was seven. as i am from germany, and in germany from bavari, everybody is really aware of tradition. so there was a folksfest and i had to wear traditional clothing, forced through my mum. but not the girls one.... but the guys tradtional trousers, and a horrible puke-green jacket over the whole mess. NO other child, NOT a single one was as embarassing dressed as i was, they wore all normal clothing and i looked like a ugly boy.

another occasion... i used to have an allergy against the sun and therefor i wasnt allowed to stay in the sun for not even 5 minutes.. where did we always go for holiday. yes, it was italy, all the small children playing naked in the sand, and the only one, wo wasnt allowed to go into h sun (= no friends on the italian beach) and who was only allowedgo into the deepblue sea wearing a long shirt fromher dad was... guess who me.

ok, enough of this.

A satin home-made party dress to a party. But when I got to the party, everybody else was wearing T shirts and jeans. I hid in a bedroom for an hour before being hauled out and told to join the othes. Was age 13. Horrible.

My first disco I went in a white denim skirt with a sailor type of top and it also had braces white braces. How many fashions was I trying to wear? I also wore white ankle socks and white shoes. Imagine what I looked like under the flurensent lights. I was probably glowing. The thing is I thought I looked good going out until I met all my friends who were in jeans - although they were the stone washed stuck to your leg type jeans. Well, it was the 80's.

I went through a stage of wearing a little black skirt with black leggings underneath. I used to think I looked like Madonna, but was mortified when I saw a picture of myself a few years later. Turns out now though that I was a trend setter about 20 years too early.
