A kill switch? Are you talking about an outboard engine? IF you are talking about an outboard engine, when you push the switch IN that activates the choke mechanism. The kill switch is normally held IN by a special clip. This clip has a lanyard that attaches to you. If you get thrown out of the boat, the clip is jerked out of the kill switch and kills the engine.

YES, a bad distributor WILL kill the power.
Bad points can kill the power.
Bad rotor can kill the power
Bad gas can kill the power.
Bad ignition switch can kill the power.
Bad wiring can kill the power.

You were just too skimpy on your details. Good luck. Pops

A distributor can kill power but more than likely it would just make the car run bad not actually kill it. I had a Chevy Luv and and had to file down the points to make it run. Also, a bad alternator will kill power. Go to the parts store and buy a "Chilton" manual for your vehicle and go to the troubleshooting page. Good Luck.

your kill switch is bad...yes,if the rotor button is bad and module is weak.also if you got a throttle body, clean it out, check your air filter, gas filter.plugs, plug wires and if you got a carb, check the choke to see if its open when your car is warmed up and not closing on you,and also check to see if you got a flooding cond.thats a few things i could think about, hope this helps you.good luck.
