It's a book written by man. A book that has been changed & edited throughout those 1,500 years to reflect various views. It's a good reference book. But so is the yellow pages. At least with the yellow pages the answers are pretty straight forward. With the Bible to many people get different answers even after reading the same passage. Like it's ok to get bit by snakes or drink poison to show your closeness with the Lord. Or it's OK to hate certains races or religious groups because the Bible says so.
Well I don't fall into that BS. As mention I use it as a reference guide still knowing it's not perfect. Because the authors of the book aren't perfect.

The book is taught as a whole and when a person is having a Bible Study the appendix that is in the back of the book is use when that particular chapter is being done. So no we are not trying to mislead anyone about the Identity of Jesus Christ and he is Gods son the Archangel Michael.

Not as much as I should either.
In response to the Atlas guy: I understand that the Atlas is a really important book. Something you will never find though, is "The definitve version of the world Atlas". So something that was true in a 1960 Atlas won't necessarely be true in the 2006 Atlas.
The Atlas is really important for anyone who wants to know about the world and this is really great. The Bible is really important for anyone who wants to know about life and eternity, wich will last a little longer than this world.

I dont s t u d y the Bible as its hard for me study something as you said ....was written by about 40 writers all claiming to have been speaking for GOD himself. However, I do beleive it is a great spiritual guideline of how we should eliminate living in chaos and if any book ever was, ...this would be the only one that I would vote to be somewhat touched by GOD. I think people should beware of the various versions like...King James who re-wrote a portion of the Bible to accomodate his own lifestyle. So, I say when reading the Bible or anything for that matter, pray that you get out of it what GOD is intending for you to and not some masked version that someone else has is trying to preach to you. God Bless.

Actually, the Rand McNally Atlas is the most important book in the world. With The Atlas, you can find your way to your destination. With The Atlas, you can locate bridges, rest areas, towns, cities, airports, mountains, and amusement parks. The Atlas is a book of facts, based on real photographs of the Earth, and doesn't leave any room for debate. It's the real deal. It's scientifically proven. It's sound. It cannot be disputed by morons.
The Bible, on the other hand, is a book of fairy tales written by fictional characters who were probably smoking crack.

Seriously, the most important book in the world is the Phone Directory.
That has a far greater impact on my life than the Bible

It is a manual of religious intolerance, bigotry, crimes against humanity, and misogyny.
Yes, I have studied it. While there are many good things, I cannot ignore the bad. Its words have also been used as an excuse by many to committ almost unthinkable crimes with the paradigms like
"what's a lifetime of torture if you convert before death and live in paradise for all eternity?"
"Kill them all, the good christians will go to heaven and the heathens will burn in hell."
"A witch will float and then must be burned, a good christian will drown and go to heaven"

I used to be in a bible study and wish I still were. No, unfortunately I do not read it on my own. I know I should. We all find a million and one excuses why we don't do something. That is sad but a fact of life. Even though I don't read it, I still have great faith and I would die for it.
