As a former GED instructor, I have encountered many students with the same issues. You can go to the nearest GED site and sign up. You will be given a test to determine your level of competencies and then you will be given resources to bring you up to standards. Reading with comprehension is the most important of all educational skills. If you can't read and understand, you will have a hard time learning. Make it your business to improve your reading skills. Call the nearest library and ask if they have a reading tutor or know where you can get one free of charge.

Do it now and you will never regret it. Become a life long learner and increase your income and self worth.

Good for you!!

I have to agree with the other people who have posted responses. Call the local adult education center or the local community college and ask them if they have any resources to help you. You should take any study helps before attempting the GED. Yes it will take longer, but your chances of passing the GED will be greater this way.

It sounds like you may have a learning disability. I encourage you to be up front with the tutors about where you have problems with learning the material. If they know where you need help, they can specifically design a learning program to help you, or offer some alternatives for training you. However, if you don't let them know, how can they help you.

I know it may be hard to make the time to go, but think of it as your job - you'd have to make it to work regularly. Going to prepare for a GED course is your first step to a better life. Because your earning power is going to go up immensely because more jobs will be available to you.

By getting the GED, it will open certain doors for you that you will never be able to enter without having the GED or high school diploma.

Good luck to you!!

i'm not too specific what a "intense college go out examination" yet i've got had a lot of friends who had no subject winding up their GED. once you're taking your GED they combine 4 years of highschool right into a million try in fact. they are places which will practice you for the try. i could attempt taking your GED. could not injury something.

Try to read a lot more. To brush up your math you can buy elementary math workbooks at most big box stores. The GED is supposed to be easy. Just read more and take some upgrading courses if you can.

Go to your Local Library or Community College and sign up for their GED preparation programs -- take the initial pre-placement tests for the classes, and follow their recommendations. That is the best way to prepare yourself to take the GED test.
