I am not a good candidate for surgery or hormone replacement therapy due to my family history of ovarian cancer. I have tried all the standard herbal cures, Dong Quai, Black Cohosh, Wild Yam, etc. Yesterday I did a little research online and tried Motherwort and Basil oil as aromatherapy. I was awake all night and had a hot flash that lasted nearly two hours. This is starting to drive me a little crazy. Any suggestions? How about an online support group?

I been there done that and it was hell. I tried all alternate therapys too. Make sure you get on natural progesterone cream usp. Make sure if has USP beside the name then you know it is pure and by the drug companies and not diluted.
If you read Dr. Lees books he recommend this for any women after 40. If helps regulate the periods too. It did help me.
Next, have some soy products everyday. I use Chocolate Silk Soy Milk. It tastes like chocolate milk (not bad). Or you can crunch on roasted soy nuts or eat tofu. This helps.
Next, at night lower your thermostat. I keep mine at 60 at night and it helps. Everyone else needs to pile the blankets on though.

Talk to a herbalist or at least someone at the Heath Food Store and see what they recommend. Everyone tells you something different but you can try different things and see what works for you.
After the period with the hot flashes expect insomnia. It just about killed me. You lay wide awake night after night and every third night you get some rest. I was worn out. It is all caused by the fluctuation of hormones. Those who take hormones don't get these side affects but they can cause cancer. So which is worse.

Please be persistant in finding a remedy don't be passive like I was it can ruin your disposition too.

How To Control Hot Flashes, Night Sweats & Vaginal Dryness

- Vitamin E (make sure the bottle says d-alpha) 400 IUs twice a day.

- B-Complex, there's not one multivitamin out there that has enough Bs in it for a hormonal woman. The Bs help to get the hormones in balance and hold them there, they are also great for stress.

- Natural Progesterone which will reverse estrogen dominance and at the same time will wake up those estrogen receptor sites so hot flashes, night sweats and vaginal dryness goes away.

You sound like you have done some homework and are aware of lots of things. Female balance is a blend that was developed to moderate hormonal fluctuations. It can be applied to the body in a base oil or lotion or just inhaled.
